San Francisco journalist, Pete Wilson, passed away from a heart attack while undergoing surgery for hip replacement Friday evening at the Stanford University Hospital. Wilson was the co-anchor at KGO-TV as well as the host of call-in radio talk show.
 
Wilson reported feelings of apprehension regarding his upcoming surgery in a broadcast aired last Wednesday.
 
He joined KGO-TV during the 1980s after working briefly at KTXL-TV located in Sacramento. Wilson also spent nearly 12 years anchoring the news at KRON-TV before coming back to KGO-TV roughly 5 and a half years ago.
 
Wilson, born in Wisconsin, first started broadcasting over 30 years ago. He was a graduate of University of Wisconsin, majoring in journalism and creative writing.
 
Wilson won many awards for his work, including several Emmys, awards from the Associated Press and two Peabody awards.
 
Mickey Luckoff of KGO radio said of Wilson, "He was never fully satisfied just reporting the facts of a situation. He constantly questions and probed the logic behind the beliefs and views of those in the news."
 
Pete Wilson resided in Marin County. He leaves behind a wife, Sandra and a son Brendan, who attends college presently.
