Product placement will have clear cut rules on Irish television. The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) discussed the issue in a session last Monday.

Traditionally, product placement has been prohibited across Irish broadcasting, but the regulators need to prepare as the country will soon adapt the Europe-wide Audiovisual Media Services directive.

A BAI spokesman confirmed that the regulator would draft a document that will summarize rules about product placement. The draft will be circulated to concerned parties.

The rules were the most tangible result of the regulator?s last meeting.
