UK regulators to allow product placement

By the looks of it, British commercial television is about to change.

Regulators are now seriously considering allowing product placement to bring in fresh revenue, as confirmed by reports last week.

The Wall Street Journal estimates that product placement can bring in an additional $166.7M to television group coffers. This revenue is greatly needed as the country?s media industry is having financial difficulties.

Many say that allowing product placement is a quick way to deteriorate content. However, the extra revenue is needed, especially during this recession.

What the government can do is regulate the entry of these product placements by screening content.
