Massive Inc. has arranged for product placements to appear in several of its game releases this fall and winter for the Xbox 360 console. The list includes two high-profile spin-offs of the famous Guitar Hero franchise.
This October, Microsoft?s in-game advertising subsidiary will put product placements on Activision?s upcoming titles?DJ Hero, Band Hero, and Blur. In addition to these new deals, the company will also continue advertising in Guitar Hero, which will be out in September.
Massive also secured product placements in the recently released boxing game, Fight Night Round 4.
The company has renewed its contracts with other EA Sports games, as well. Thanks to massive, there will be product placements in Madden NFL 2010, NHL 2010, and NBA Live 2010. For Activision, Massive will bring in-game advertisements for Tony Hawk. Company officials say that they have negotiated for better product placements for several of these titles.
With new deals coming and old deals being renewed, Massive now has a network that can reach more than 40 million gamers. In most cases, these partnerships are for the Xbox and PC versions and do not include the PlayStation3 and Wii platforms.
And Massive General Manager J.J. Richards says that the network is only going to get bigger. In a blog entry from Richards, he said that the company is planning to host its second annual In-Game Ad Upfront event in New York this November.
?Advertisers covet the fall television season for the opportunities the networks’ prime-time lineups give brands to reach their target audiences,? wrote Richards. ?What many advertisers may not know is this fall [and winter] there [will be] a host of chart toppers that will help them engage the highly coveted male 18-34 demographic in a more efficient and less interruptive manner than traditional TV ads.?
