The Day the Earth Stood Still product placement


The Day the Earth Stood Still is a remake of Robert Wise’s 1951 classic with a little twist. This time around, Klaatu (Keanu Reeves) wages war against mankind’s penchant for self-destruction in form of global warming. In the course of the story, Klaatu befriends widow Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) and her stepson (Jaden Smith). Together, the three race to save the world.



There are numerous product placements in the movie, which were skillfully integrated in the plot development. Some of the brands that are displayed include McDonald’s, LG, Microsoft, along with other brands.



In one scene, Klaatu has a rendezvous with a fellow alien at a McDonald’s restaurant. On the other hand, a Microsoft logo was displayed when a character was opening up a top secret government computer.
