Movie studios can now air film ads during the annual Academy Awards.

After more than 50 years, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is finally letting movie ads in the show. Prior to this arrangement, ruled by the Academy?s board of governors, the show avoided airing ads, because it might look like the studios were influencing the show?s outcome. Although the show is now open to movie ads, the Academy made sure it has plenty of restrictions.

According to the Academy?s spokes person, Leslie Unger, ?With the criteria that the committee recommended in place, it offers us a further way to celebrate the movies, which is what the show is all about. And it is a way of adding some fun, creative and exciting content to the evening.?
